  • Call your insurance company to find out if any damage is covered and file claims quickly.
  • Document and photograph any losses.
  • All costs related to protective actions and contractual services such as cleaning companies should be tracked and kept close by.
  • All documented damage not covered by insurance should be reported to your town, village, or city clerk.

  • Hurricane Irene Emergency Funds through The Dyson Foundation: The Foundation has created an emergency grant program for nonprofit organizations in Columbia, Dutchess, Greene, Putnam, and Ulster counties in the aftermath of Hurricane Irene. The Dyson Foundation will expedite reviews of all requests for emergency funding. Nonprofit organizations can apply for emergency funds to help the organization recover from uninsured damages or losses incurred because of Hurricane Irene. To apply, please submit a one-page narrative describing the uninsured damages or losses and a budget and/or invoice of estimated recovery costs to submissions@dyson.org.
